Hello, I'm Laura Gurlino
Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor

To begin, I invite you to read this mantra aloud:

“I do my thing, and you do your thing.
I am not in this world to live up to your expectations,
and you are not in this world to live up to mine.” (Fritz Perls, 1969)

I lack self-love when, in the attempt to please you, I betray myself.
I lack love for you when I try to change you instead of accepting you for who you are.

“You are you, and I am I,
and if by chance we find each other, it's beautiful.
If not, it can't be helped.” (Fritz Perls, 1969)

Is This Your Thing?

Adults from all backgrounds and circumstances are feeling overwhelmed about trying to overcome interpersonal relationship conflicts, codependency, abuse, depression, anxiety, and trauma.

They are probably feeling lost, lonely, sad, or anxious to the point that it's affecting their ability to fully engage in everyday life. Maybe they struggle in relationships despite their best efforts to make things work. Or they just feel unseen, as if those around them don't truly understand.

Understanding your challenges is important. You know life should be better, but if you're unsure of how to get there, you are not alone.

The path to your healing begins here. It's beautiful that we found each other.

About Me:
This is My Thing

I believe that healing is possible when we develop our innate strengths to live up to our own expectations and get to navigate life's complexities with the same grace we go through good times.

When you work with me, you'll experience a compassionate environment where empathy, purpose, commitment, and a touch of humor come together to assist you grow your autonomy, self-determination, and self-sufficiency. We will start by completing a comprehensive assessment of your specific concerns. Then, we will explore strategies that align with your needs and comfort level and build a collaborative plan that will help you gain insight and identify the changes you need to make to become your best self.

Group Therapy

Going no-contact with family members feels like jumping into the unknown after breaking your own foundations and cutting your own roots, like losing your identity, and immediately moving into this place of not belonging.

Grieving the Living Therapy Group is a trauma informed safe and supportive space to process emotions and connect with others who understand the journey of going no-contact with family members.

For 8 weeks, we will explore the stages of grief, healthy coping skills, self-care, and boundaries while learning to handle the challenges of judgement, alienation, and social stigma.
